Mindy uses a gentile, authentic approach to capture the true spirit of those she is photographing. She studied photography and art at the University of California Santa Barbara before finishing her journalism degree at Drake University. Her eclectic education and background results a signature style of fine art and documentary photography and her photographs have been featured in magazines and books all over the world.

She lives in a cute little neighborhood in the middle of Iowa where she shoots out of downtown Des Moines' Catchlight Studios. She manages her business at home where she lives with her husband, four daughters and assorted animals.

i’ve been photographing this family four times a year since there were only two girls and now there are four. i used to wonder how their mom did it with
all these kiddos so close in age. she is truly a wonder. not only does she manage this household and work, she has always has time to do things for others.
when i had the twins she brought over so much food! she brought a couple of full meals, lots of freshly washed, individually packaged servings of fruits and veggies,
a salad and a tray of dessert.

there have been a few times that we’ve had to miss due to scheduling challenges or pregnancies, but for the most part,
i get to see them every three months. i love them dearly. they’ve become good friends and a testament to the many blessings this job has to offer.

there have been some days when no one wants their photo taken and some days when everyone can’t wait to get in front of the camera. regardless, we always have fun.

this shoot was a particularly successful one, as everyone had a great time. aren’t they are the sweetest, most beautiful lovelies?
