I am totally booked for outdoor portraits for 2010.
If time allows, I may do one more day of indoor holiday card mini-sessions. I will post on here, if I decide to open a date.
I’m doing some cool stuff after the holidays, so stay tuned.

Michelle and I slung margaritas together at Garcia’s when we were in college. She and Matt have been dating longer than I can remember. Eight or nine years, I think.
So, it’s good they didn’t rush into anything.

They got married in Backbone State Park in a gorgeous part of Iowa that I had not been to before.
They stayed at Coyote Springs Cottage, which is an old, stone cottage built in the 1850s near Elkader, IA. It was stunning.

Do not mess with this flower girl.

All of Matt and Michelle’s vendors and food were local. It was such a thoughtful wedding.

Matt made and supplied all of the home-brewed beer and root beer for the entire wedding. He is really good at making home brew.

Michelle, I am so proud of all you have accomplished. Matt, take good care of her. You guys are such a great couple and I felt so happy to be a part of your big day. Love you both!

Erica and Chris were married in Mason City this summer. I think, had she not been in grade school at the time, Erica and I would have been great friends in high school. She is hilarious, she tells it like it is, and she likes to have a lot of fun. She is definitely the light in any room she is in.

And she has great taste.

Yes. She had The Shoes.

This is one of my all time favorite shots by Mandy Miller, who second shot for me on this day.
The few attendants who did not have their bow ties tied by Chris watched an instructional video in the church. I think on an i-phone. Classic.

The wedding party was escorted to the reception in classic cars.

The reception was at the MacNider Museum in Mason City. It was the first time I’ve shot there and it is a really cool space.

Max Wellman performed for the first dances.

Taste to Go and Catering also drove up to Mason City from Des Moines to cater the event. This was the second wedding that I’ve done with them this year.

They pretty much owned it. This was the Seafood Station.

Erica changed into another gorgeous dress at the reception. The girl had it going on.

When Paige wins the lottery, I’m just going to shoot her family exclusively.

I just spent an hour that I didn’t have to spare looking for a photo that Paige took of me, Shae and my husband when
Shae was a baby that was eerily similar to the one above. I never found it.

Paige is the little sister that I never had. I truly believe that. So my heart is truly full of joy when I get to watch her with her family.
You are an awesome mama!

This lovely family was just a short road trip away.
I am liking road trips more and more now that the twins can climb the baby gates.

They are living a life I could have easily chosen and would have very much enjoyed.
Both of the parents are veterinarians. They are living on a small, beautiful acreage with a dog, a couple of horses and a home-made tree swing.
Simply lovely.

It took a bit for this little sweet thing to warm up to me.

The dog liked me immediately.

These stunningly beautiful children are the daughters of a wedding couple from some time ago.
They live in Austin, now, but every once in a while they will grant me a special appearance when they come back to town.

I can not get enough of them.

I LOVE this shot below. I wonder what she is thinking?

They came to Des Moines from Iowa City to have their photos taken and we had such a lovely evening.

Gearing up for Ashley & Mike’s wedding this weekend.
I’ve photographed them twice within the last six months, so I’ve gotten to know them pretty well and am very excited for Saturday.
Plus, they’ve given me one of my favorite engagement images from this year.

Kylee & Nick had a gorgeous wedding in May.
Kylee is an event planner and skipped no details.

Kylee’s grandmother’s father had given her a ring when she was a teenager.
Kylee surprised her grandmother by
having the ring shined up and wearing it on her wedding day.

Kylee had a great relationship with her both of her parents. But she is a self-proclaimed daddy’s girl.

Her dad took her to meet Nick for the first time.

I don’t usually post formals, but this was so darling. Kylee’s nephew was the
ring bearer and he rode down the aisle in this awesome wagon.

Now, this is where the fun kicked in. I had no idea how much fun we were going to have with this wedding party!
Sarah went back to the reception to record all of the details and I hit El Bait Shop with the crew.

This was the most fun I’d had a wedding in a long time. The couple and their wedding party were
so much fun and included us in all of the festivities. What a bonus to a beautiful day!

Kylee is an exceptional event planner at Down to Details Events, should anyone need those services.
She’s got a great eye for design and is a treat to be around.
